Second Sony Xperia with Snapdragon 845 spotted on Geekbench

Today we already see the second Sony Xperia model with the Snapdragon 845 on Geekbench. Is Sony testing two models of the same smartphone or do we see two Xperia flagships during the MWC 2018 in Barcelona?

In the last few months, several images have been leaked from an upcoming Xperia flagship. Last year the Japanese company launched a new phablet flagship, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. It looks as if the Japanese manufacturer will come up with a complete flagship line this year. Geekbench confirms at least the presence of a possible second flagship in addition to the previously tested Sony H8266. The new Sony with model number 90QB16R scores 2.367 on single core and 8.255 on a multi core. This makes the phone much faster than the fastest scores of the Sony Xperia XZ1 (2030/6668).

New Japanese flagship the Sony 90QB16R

Today we see the signs of a second Sony Xperia flagship at Geekbench. In addition to the fast Snapdragon 845 powered Sony H8266, the Sony 90QB16R turns up today. The samartphone is powered by the new Qualcomm processor with model number SDM845. It is the powerful Snapdragon 845 with Adreno 630 GPU. Sony keeps the working memory at a modest 4 GB, and the operating system is Android 8 Oreo. It is, unfortunately, unclear which device this is. It can, of course, be an international or national model of the previously tested H8266. Another explanation is that Sony will not launch one but two flagships. In that case, in addition to the much leaked Sony Xperia XZ2 with 5.7-inch screen and dual main cameras, we also see a more compact model. Perhaps the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact which was leaked several times this week.

New Sony design during MWC 2018

One thing is clear; Sony is coming to Barcelona with a new generation of Sony Xperia flagships. In the official teaser of the Japanese company, we see lines in a curve. With this, the smartphone manufacturer seems to bid farewell to the sleek design that you used to be able to recognize Xperia smartphones from afar. This curve was also confirmed this week by the images of a Xperia XZ2 Compact model.

On 26 February, the latest generation of Sony Xperia flagships with a new design appears.
